the appendix

Music For Pleasure: 22.11.08

Contradicting last week's promise, get ready for 'The History of popular music through the medium of second hand vinyl part 6: The Appendix'

Comprising a mixture of songs of the nineties, songs from musicals and other stuff we forgot during the last fie weeks along with the usual random chat, a singular shiny disk and hopefully the return of the mystery bag this show promises to be something our fan really shouldn't miss.

Left Of The Dial: 21.11.08

This week: there's no getting round it, this week sees us peak (and not just our peak in this episode, like, the highest point we're ever likely to reach) with the first Subcity play of the mighty Tom Waits/Kool Keith collaboration that's already making N.A.S.A.'s debut album Chris's most highly-anticipated release of 2009, even though it has nothing to do with the space program. Also: #1 Records gets an origin story, and... ah, who cares - Tom Waits and Kool Keith! Aieeeeeee!

sixties soul sisters - 23rd nov 2008 - 2-3pm

Journeys: 23.11.08

Hey folks,

No prizes for guessing that this week's show features a selection of fine, female-voiced soul. I'll be playing a selection of up-tempo groovers and a few love-gone-wrong type slower numbers, all from the 60s. Expect: Aretha Franklin, Dinah Washington, Erma Franklin, Irma Thomas, Laura Lee and more.

This week's Weird But Wonderful vote is between a couple of songs by blokes, but which are dedicated to women-kind in general:

1. James Brown - It's A Man's, Man's, Man's World http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RZMgLQuTluA

James loves the ladies. In a pre-PC kind of way.

(Swiftly followed in the same video by 'I Got You (I Feel Good)' - Nice!)

2. Daddy Kae & Yvonne - Eleven Commandments of Woman http://cowbell.fm/track/37551-daddy-kae-yvonne-eleven-commandments-of-woman

Yvonne teaches Daddy the rules, in a funky stylee.

To decide which one plays the show out, get in touch during the live broadcast: studio@subcity.org or text 'subcity' then your message to 07766 40 41 42.

Argonaut Sounds: 23.11.08

Rock n Roll Meltdown: 20.11.08

BOOM! ROCK N ROLL MELTDOWN is on Subcity Radio this Thursday 17.00-19.00 for a celebration of quality things from the realms of psychedelia, garage, punk, sleaze and proper rock n' roll. All the usual features, deaths, nonsense and persistant name-dropping are also included. Why don't you listen in unless your some kind of aural-leper, who spends Thursday teatime watching Countdown or something.

If you've got any non-wank requests or stories of an amusing nature you could email the studio: studio@subcity.org - or you can always text "subcity" + your message to 07766 40 41 42 if you'd prefer.

60s-style girl-sounds

Suck My Left One: 19.11.08

Inspired by the imminent arrival on these shores of Brooklyn all-girl surf-guitar punks The Vivian Girls, this week's show used this as a thinly-veiled excuse to play a bunch of marginally related sounds, including The Fnords, The Carrots, The Shangri-Las, Haight-Ashbury and the Pipettes. This was also a long-awaited excuse to play inadvertent psychedelic fabulousness from The Shaggs. If you've never heard it, listen now. If you can handle it.

sleazy saturday

Bottle Rocket: 20.11.08

this month's show will be playing the usual combination of new music, touring bands and dancing-party favourites, which this month happens to mean We Were Promised Jetpacks, Far and Nina Simone amongst others. you like them? then you'll love bottle rocket radio!

next on the agenda: thanks to any listeners who made it down to the club night on Saturday at Nice N Sleazys. Unfortunately the emphasis seemed to be on 'sleazy' rather than 'nice' for once which was a bit of a shame. Once you factor in some crippling technical problems it adds up to an eve that was a little less satisfying than previous months. but such setbacks only strengthen our resolve to up the niceness and make december's christmassy bottle rocket the best yet!

but that is awfully far away still. so lets just focus on the radio show: as well as the above i'll probably play nick cave and the bad seeds and my latest novel. so there's two more excellent reasons to tune in.

housin' things this week

Get OOFT!: 18.11.08

This weeks episode has all the cracking banter you should have come to expect from Get OOFT! over the last year, whilst the featured artist in "Two Much Love" is former Basement Boy and all round Philly house legend Karizma. Both hot off the press nu schidt and a stone cold club classic getting some air time from him. There's more classic tunage from Detroit house master Blake Baxter as well as the regular dubbed out disco edits, hiphop and more. Have a gander...

de jour live in the studio

Pop Goes The Revolution: 27.11.08

This week Pop Goes The Revolution are very pleased to announce we will be joined in the studio by Glasgow indie maestros De Jour, genuinely one of the most under estimated bands in our fair city.

They will be in the studio discussing their musical experiences, talking about the music they love as well as playing a couple of live acoustic tracks in the very crampt studio. Expect a sweltering session as the humidity levels reach an all new high as we desperately try to set up for the band to play while the songs are playing.

It's going to be superb.

Join us at midday on Thursday.

storytelling

Rara: 18.11.08

Once upon a time there were two little girls who lived in a castle made of dusty old books. Their parents were lousy enunciators, so the girls were named 'Laura' and 'Tara' for it was easy for them to say through mouthfuls of sponge cake. One day Laura and Tara were a-walking down dictionary lane when they stumbled upon a gang of gaily dressed youths. The colourful characters looked them hard in the eye, questioned them about their strange names and offered them a microphone and strange spinning disks through which music could be heard. The girls were most pleased by these strange contraptions and used them to tell strange stories of their dusty castle home!

Their favourite fellow storytellers were:

The Bentinck Sessions: 17.11.08

Stanton Sessions Vol. 3 Competition

After furious deliberation we found a winner!

Although not quite picking the right phrase to complete the library graffiti contest, Sandra from Level 9 in the uni library came close enough. The correct answer was:

"Sometime during thunderstorms, I like to make love to my girlfriend and pretend that we are conceiving the antichrist"

Sandra's answer was "attach an aerial to her in the hope that she be electricuted"

Well done Sandra! Your Stanton Sessions CD will be with you shortly.

Keep listening in the coming weeks as there will be more CD's to be won.

Benzo and Nav are Sleeping With Your Wives: 17.11.08

When Benzo and Nav were sent to Earth from the outer reaches of the cosmos, it was with the intention that they provide you with a show that is as delightful as this one. A show, ladies and girls, that answers all the questions you ever had about French food, disco balls and the enigma that is the London economy. A show that slams your face around with the musical stylings of Devo, SebastiAn, Operation Ivy and Sister Sledge without pausing to think about decency. A show that occasionally recieves email and text messages. Yes, this hour will blow you mind more than Martin Sheen coming round for your birthday and giving you a Scalextric track. Just Right Up Your Cup of Tea Street: 16.11.08

AAAWWWWWOOOOGAAAAH!!!!

Had a lot of fun doing this weeks show with a lot of slow dances, slaps, hoots and larfs being had in the studio. Hats off and thumbs up to everyone's favourite gastro-enteritis victim, Gaz, for having a heavy hand in in today's pickings after my external hard drive died.

Yet more exclusives, this week from TEAM B, the brand new ARCADE FIRE/ BEIRUT/ LCD SOUNDSYSTEM Supergroup, great wee song "On My Mind" left us in a wee romantic tizzy.

Another exciting thing this week was our FIRST EVS COMPETITION and what a fucking treat we have for ya...the chance to win a SIGNED COPY OF MR. OIZO's new fuckin album, Lamb's Anger. How did we do it? Well, if we told you, you'd probably not believe us. We are noddy widdle boyz.... So needless to say get onto our forum and answer this week's DJ TECHNO MATHMATICAL RIDDLE to be in with a chance to get your hands on this little smasher. BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE SHOW IN ORDER TO HEAR THE QUESTION... The winner will be announced on next week's show, deadline 4pm next Sunday...so if you haven't already joined the forum, we've given you a very very good reason to right the now!

As mentioned, local artist Mlle. Leaves will be on next week's show with two brand new songs from his new EP which should be available early next year so yet more reasons for keeping up with us EVERY Sunday from 5pm!!

deepspacedisco

Ladyboydisco: 13.11.08

If you ever thought disco was too damn delightful to have been created by human hands - you were right. After years of government cover-ups, the news has finally leaked that disco was brought to us from another dimension in outer space. Donna Summer is from Saturn and Kano is from Krypton. pt 5: 80's synth nightmare

Music For Pleasure: 15.11.08

At the end of a very long and winding road, we've reached the fifth and final part of 'The history of popular music through the medium of second hand vinyl'

The 80's synth pop nighmare will cover all manner of music from 1984-1990 olus perhaps a couple of 90s tunes thrown in for good measure. Expect all three kinds of music; Stock, Aitken AND Waterman, as well as a smattering of classier fair and - if Oxfam have got their act together - a wee mystery bag to get your blood flowing.

bottle rocket indie dancing party!!!

Bottle Rocket: 13.11.08

This Saturday it's the return of Bottle Rocket to Nice N Sleazys for our monthly dance-fest. We start at 11:30, we end at 3:00am, and in-between we play songs galore - C86, post-punk, motown and spector and anything else we fancy throwing into the big bubbling pot of Dance. Or, as Joseph describes it:

"smart indie, cuddle-core, bouncy shoegaze, smiles and sparks of pop bliss"

Well that sounds jolly good doesn't it?

In other news, the radio show this week will be playing music by Eagleowl, Clinic and the Notwist and will be trying not to forget stuff after last week's confusion-tinged show. In order to improve things i intend to stay sober the night before, rather than drink so much that i cut my finger open WITH MY OTHER FINGER trying to click them along to NOFX. Cos that's just stoopid.

see you saturday

notwist special

Jus de Pomme: 09.11.08

The Notwist are playing at the King Tut's on the 19th of November. Subcity will be recording the gig--one good reason to dedicate this episode of Jus de Pomme to the band.

Also, it's the 19th anniversary of the fall of the wall in Berlin.

Initially this post said that Notwist would be plying on the 11th. This is clearly wrong and mainly due to my increadibly poor memory for dates. Trust me, I believed for weeks it was the 11th. Well anyways... Gives you more time to buy tickets

funky president! sun 16th nov 2008 - 2-3 pm

Journeys: 16.11.08

Hey folks,

So, there I was trying to decide what to do this week's show on, and then that Obama bloke went and got himself elected...

This week's show is a collection of songs about political and social empowerment; from artists such as James Brown, Isley Brothers, John Lennon, Public Enemy, Lee Dorsey and others.

Ultimately Barack Obama's presidency may not turn out to be all that different from any other American regime, but surely we're allowed to hope, 'pray' and day-dream until it all goes wrong!?!?

The Weird But Wonderful vote is between a couple of versions of a Temptations' classic:

1. The Heptones - Message From A Black Man

A Coxsone Dodds produced reggae version: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=e8xN5YXHUoU

2. The Whatnauts - Message From A Black Man

Sweet funky soul version: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=u7tLrNLL-PQ

(Original Temptations version: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XDeasoVNgoI)

To decide which one plays the show out, get in touch during the live broadcast: studio@subcity.org or text 'subcity' then your message to 07766 40 41 42.

tribal lady dances: because we're only two once...

Just Right Up Your Cup of Tea Street: 09.11.08

....we still parp things up from time to thyme but equally weighted with a lovely wee playlist again this week we smoothed things out towards the end...

On this week's show we had an exclusive Evil Nine track from their new album ("They Live!")

Speil (who we meanly demean) joined us in the studio for dirty small talk and back chat about his failing uni career, his painter boss, his obsessive love of David Marhsall (you'll find out shortly why we love him when he makes a guest appearance before Xmas), and a wee track from Apparat. Noice.

We promise to be back next week with more Nearest and Dearest, improvised studio phone number jingles, conversations with randomly selected friends on our mobiles, and a droolingly gorgeous competition with the chance to win some very, very brand new signed CDs. Oh and a pause for thought....

Merci bouquets,

Davy

party party : revamped

Party Party: 09.11.08

So the Party Party team has been refreshed, we felt the show was getting a bit stale, so we've added to our line up, joining us are Rosco, The Big C and Paddy Rose. More chat, same good tunes. Expect more variation, less function music, less cheese (We'll still have some, don't worry).

Tonights show had some obvious teething problems, mainly the fact that we need more microphones, which results in some very distant sounding voices. It will all be resolved for next week (hopefully).

Enjoy!

a series of tubes and the social networking crisis

Pop Goes The Revolution: 13.11.08

What we all have to remember is, in the words of Senator Ted Stevens, the man who in 2006 was in charge of regulating the internet, is that “the Internet is not something that you just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes.” This accurate technical analysis gives a clear precise picture of the internet and just what is going wrong. The internet is slowing down and soon it’ll be useless to us all. As Ted Stevens himself pointed out “I just the other day got... an Internet was sent by my staff at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday. I got it on Tuesday.”

Here at Pop Goes The Revolution we have once more found out the source of the problem, and yet again it lands in the pop culture remit. We have discovered that the sole reason for the slowing down of the internet is in fact Social Networking sites. It’s a combination of the pointless flashy MySpace pages, the billions of photos of their face from every conceivable angle on Bebo, and the constant updating of statuses on Facebook, beemed in by text message, saying such important messages as “I am now eating a yoghurt.”

There is only one logical conclusion. To save the internet we must remove a social networking site. Therefore, in order to protect mankind, Pop Goes The Revolution have send off the Cliff List team to examine the social networking mammoths and reckon now they have the ability to strip the cables and servers and send the chosen site plunging to its doom.*

The question is, which one will go. Well, naturally that choice is up to you. Yes, you can vote now in the biggest cliff list battle to date, the clash of the social networking sites. So pick your sides, and vote for which one you feel is worse. Do so either by voting on our MySpace page (www.myspace.com/popgoestherevolution), on our Bebo (www.bebo.com/popgoestherevolution), on our Facebook, by emailing us at popgoestherevolution@hotmail.co.uk or by commenting to this episode here at Subcity.

So choose your voting method, and select your victim. Remember the rules, the two items with the most votes at the end of the week go through to the final live on air, where they will take their votes through and battle it out on air until one of them is declared the loser and pushed off our cliff.

Join us this Thursday to find out what will go.

As an irrelevant side note, Ted Stevens was wrong, the internet isn’t a series of tubes, it actually looks more like this - http://xkcd.com/256/

*We would like it noted that we are fully aware that all this chat is metaphorical, and this is a pre-emptive telling off for whatever smart arse decided to inform us that we can no longer have an account with whichever site loses the battle.

This week's Rara it's all about the man born with the Golden Voice: we'll be playing Leonard classics and personal favourites, covers, tributes and homages to our favourite Quebecoise singer-songwriter. Well, second favourite: our November 18th show will be all about Celine Dion, our hearts will go on and on and on until our declerations of love get through her bouffant 'do into her French soul, or l'âme, as it were. Ha, that's awfully close to LAME, which is totally not how we secretly, actually feel about Celine Dion at all and none of this is a lie.

Pop Goes The Revolution: 06.11.08

After its tempoary American break, and a couple of unusual weeks, Pop Goes The Revolution returns to what it does best.

It's simple, we lampoon everything we as wrong with pop culture and you join in our levels of slightly irritated banter as this week we analyse on just how much profit Starbucks make everytime you buy a coffee.

Yes, this week the Cliff List is a straight run off: Starbucks vs Costa - which is worse?

You can comment on this page and vote or text in or email in on the show to decide what coffee mamoth will meet a Cliff List doom as well as joining us in a general cynical banter mass.

As usual Nikki will be providing you a guide to the week's activities in Glasgow with all the hottest places to be, George will mumble things of a snobby and irritated nature, and the show will as of ever bring you some excellent tunes the world has forgotten to listen to.

The Revolution is as classic as it ever was. Pop Goes The Revolution 12-1 this Thursday.

Just Right Up Your Cup of Tea Street: 02.11.08

Silly wee men that we are, the show didn't actually start until pretty much 10 minutes in with a lovely morcel (Jo) from Mr. Oizo's new album, Lamb's Anger. Supoib little ditty followed by us nervously getting our hands on alien dials which we don't know how to use properly so it was, as the critic David Bennente admitted, "a literal and metaphoric pile of horse jobby in terms of production and chat". As a result we are away to work out our respective problems including us talking over each other, Gary's gastro-enteritis and my disappearing voice.

We will be back next Sunday at 5pm, hopefully on better form to play you a tantalising selection of oddities and to tell you a little bit about our up-and-coming-mini-music-documentaries and mini-mixes...by the way the Erol Alkan exemplar was (shockingly) NOT an exclusive...it was just a wee taster of whats coming...

the feeling they call the blues - sunday 2-3 pm

Journeys: 02.11.08

Hey folks,

Journeys goes back to it's normal length of 1 hour from this week, so tune in at 2 PM for an hour of Blues greats. Artists likely to feature include Muddy Waters, BB King, John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, T-Bone Walker, Leadbelly and more.

The Weird But Wonderful vote is between a couple of songs with 'Blues' in the title, but which aint actually Blues tunes:

1. Masters At Work - MAW Latin Blues http://www.last.fm/music/Nuyorican+Soul/_/MAW+Latin+Blues

From the Nuyorican Soul album. It's cool, but it's far too cheery to be the Blues! It's not on youtube, but you can hear it at the above last.fm link (just click 'play' on the wee player at the right of screen).

2. Kasabian - Butcher Blues http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1gPDWWp-Mg

From their debut album (when they were good). At least this one attempts to be kind of depressing. :)

To decide which one plays the show out, get in touch during the live broadcast: studio@subcity.org or text 'subcity' then your message to 07766 40 41 42.

theez boyz italo disco special!

Theez Boyz R Athletes: 01.11.08

This Saturday's Theez Boyz R Athletes will be an Italo Disco special. Tune in from 10PM to Midnight for two whole hours of the best Italo Disco I can get my hands on. I'll be playing classics from this highly influential genre such as Spacer Woman by Charlie to more recent Italo Disco influenced tracks like Love Explosion by Alden Tyrell.

If you have any Italo Disco related requests or would like to contact the show for any reason at all, you can email us on theezboyzrathletes@hotmail.co.uk or through our myspace at http://www.myspace.com/theezboyzrathletes

Here's the Wiki blurb on Italo Disco for those who are unfamiliar:

"Italo-Disco is a very broad term, encompassing much of the disco music output in Europe during the 1980s. It is one of the world's first forms of electronic dance music. It evolved during the late 70's / early 1980s in Italy, Spain, Germany, and other parts of Europe, and later influenced most of the 80's disco productions of the world. Italo disco music has a distinct, futuristic and spacey sound, which was created using synthesizers, drum machines, and vocoders. During the 1980s, the term "Italo-disco" was used in Europe to describe all the non-UK and non-US based dance productions. In North America and the UK, Italo-Disco was mostly an underground phenomenon that could only be heard at night clubs or through homemade DJ mixes."

Let the disco commence!

the seventies part 1: the next big thing

Music For Pleasure: 01.11.08

This Week on Music for Pleasure 'The Next big thing: The Seventies Part 1 | The history of popular music through the medium of bad quality 2nd hand vinyl part 3'

Having scoured the record collection, there's no easy way of saying this, too much happened in the seventies. A paired down list of must include artists from the seventies has reached the mid thirties, and that's without any Zepplin, Sabbath, Sex Pistols, Kraftwork and many others.

Therefor this week's journey through the history of popular music is going to ignore the fact that a decade is 10 years long and stop just before the invention of punk commonly believed to be in 1977. We'll be attempting to play as many of the artists and bandswho tried and failed to be 'The Next Beatles' while widening and developing what is popular music.

We may even find time to fit in a mystery bag megamix too.

subcity halloween at the art school!

Get In The Van

Don't know about you guys, but I'm getting pretty excited about the art school/subcity halloween party tomorrow night, not least because I'll be kicking off proceedings downstairs with all kinds of ambient weirdness, chilling textures and blood curdling electronics before the Falconi Bros. and Findo Gask take over.

Tickets are selling fast, probably best getting them in advance, or turning up mega early tomorrow night to avoid disappointment.

See you all at The Vic!!!

Electric Lemonade: 04.11.08

Purely because I love theming stuff, Electric Lemonade's 4th November pitcher (oh dear...) will be a remix special. I'll be playing all my favourite remixes like Depeche Mode remixed by Digitalism and (despite my ranting last week) a classic Snow Patrol remix from the Songs For Polarbears days...

I'll also be exploring my Bring Back Barbershop Campaign.

So tune in on the 4th November for the best remixes around (in my opinion anyway)

Much love!

Comedy legend Will Lord (78), best known for his role as hapless DJ Lord of the Dancehall in the much loved Subcity series Solar Island (Seasons 1 - 4) was said to be deeply offended by answerphone messages recorded on the show discussing the sexual activities of members of his family.

At the centre of the outrage was a comment by Solar regular Matthew Sillars claiming that Mad Euan Lindsey had had sex with Will's dad, Captain Birdseye.

us election special

Pop Goes The Revolution: 30.10.08

This week Pop Goes The Revolution is presented to you live from the oval office in the White House. It is from here that we hope to bring you the true guide to the American election through the eyes of pop culture.

Join us as we seemlessly prove that every song we play is about the US election, as well as giving you the true report on just what is happening in America through the medium of weak jokes and irelevant chat done to the backing music of the star spangled banner.

The usual features remain as well though, Nikki's news lives on and the 'cliff list' returns with an all new personal vengence.

Join us this Thursday at midday for satire galore, some excellent tunes, and a large collection of patriotic backings that will get you saying 'God bless America' quicker than an extradition trip to Guantanamo.

ascii needs you!

ASCII: 02.11.08

ASCII returns to Subcity on November the 2nd with the classic blend of videogame bleeps, Nintendo talk and live gaming. Bringing back the original format of one hour, Tim and myself are going to condense all the fun from last year into an weekly hour long show.

However, Tim is away attending Mario and Peach's Wedding (I wissnae invited) so I'm looking for some goombas to join me on the show.

Past names who have appeared include Robin Davis, Martin Deutsch, Heather Robertson, Ciaran Owens, Scott Forsyth , Joe Evans and Lewis Ross. Old and new faces are welcome to appear and bring their fond memories of getting a Game Boy for Christmas back in 1993.

Failing this I'll just resort to playing Electroplankton for a hour or do a chiptune set.

If you want to get involved send me a PM on the forum.

ASCII will be broadcast online infront of a live studio audience on Subcity.org at 11-12pm, Novemeber the 2nd 2008.

chicago soul special with dave box

Soulful Allsorts: 25.10.08

Dave Box bought his first soul record in 1964 in Yorkshire , three years late he started visiting the Unite States to buy some more. Dave befriended many musicians, collectors and producers on his trips and is regarded as a specialist on Chicago Soul. He made his second visit to Soulful Allsorts on Saturday 25th October to play some great examples of Chicago Soul from Chess records, the pen of Curtis Mayfield and the tapes produced by Carl Davis. You'll hear some rare records and others still available for a few pounds but they all sound great. Hear him with Subcity regular Fraser Dunn on Soulfull Allsorts.

instru-mental - sun 26th oct 2008 - 1-3 pm

Journeys: 26.10.08

Hey folks,

This week's show consists of a choice selection of (mostly) soul and funk instrumentals (although I've allowed the odd chant, exclamation, or repeated vocal line). Artists likely to feature include Herbie Hancock, Ramsey Lewis, Link Wray, The Kay Gees, Ike Turner & His Kings of Rhythm, The Joe Cuba Sextet, Kool & The Gang, Charles Kynard, Duane Eddy and more.

The Spotlight is on one of the greatest funk bands ever. It's New Orleans' own The Meters. Formed in 1965 by Art Neville, The Meters had some of the best players around (including guitarist Leo Nocentelli, bassist George Porter Jr. and drummer Joseph "Zigaboo" Modeliste) and became the 'house band' for Allen Toussaint and his record label, Sansu Enterprises. I'll be spinning a few of their own releases.

The Weird But Wonderful vote features one of my favourite artists in a couple of his cheesier moments:

1. Roy Ayers - He Aint Heavy, He's My Brother

A vibes-heavy cover of the Hollies' classic.

2. Roy Ayers - I Don't Know How To Love Him

Another cover, this time of the Andrew Lloyd Webber 'classic', from Jesus Christ Superstar... hmm...

No links for the WBW this week, but both tunes are pretty well known as the originals and as a multitude of cover versions, all of which can be found on youtube if you have steadfastly avoided music up to this point.

To decide which one plays the show out, get in touch during the live broadcast: studio@subcity.org or text 'subcity' then your message to 07766 40 41 42.

Either way there is now a MASSIVE beef with gran-tastic who we intend to take right down to china town, and maybe have a lovely meal with them; don't you love those sweet and sour dumplings? Either way have a listen and maybe, just maybe, you'll learn something. *

*The Office Of Dudes does not endorse learning of any kind.

hello from the broomhill mix!!!

Broomhill Mix

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Cats and Dogs and especially the purveyors of jazz, funk and soul. Just a quick news flash about what has been happening on the show so far this year. Apart from playing some awesome music over the past weeks, there have also been some great gigs. Allan has made it down to see Level 42, who lifted the roof of the concert hall on the 1st of October. Additionally Allan makes it down to Brel (Ashton Lane) every Sunday to catch the weekly Jazz night, so head on down if you want to catch some inspirational jazz! Recently Allan bumped into Jass Main at Brel and received his new CD, so stay tuned to have a listen some of his new stuff.

There will also be more to come in the coming weeks, a few interviews are being organised and a heap more of your favourite and soon to be favourtie jazz, soul and funk bands and musicians will be aired. So stay tuned to the Broomhill Mix!

rock n roll meltdown in rehab - back 30th october.

Rock n Roll Meltdown

YO! The popular rock n' roll based radio show, ROCK N ROLL MELTDOWN will sadly be absent from the airwaves this Thursday (23rd October) while we get some much needed medical assistance. Flowers, chocolates, grapes and crack will all be gratefully received within visiting hours.

But never fear, cos we will be back with some kind of half-arsed Halloween nonsense on Thursday October the 30th (5-7pm) - maybe we'll play all the same songs we play every other year, or play some really unusual shit and alienate listeners even more than usual. Feel free to listen in fancy dress if that's your bag - you perverted bastards.
