ASCII was the first ever videogames based radio show in the UK, broadcasting chiptune and videogame remixes since 2005 from the Subcity studio. Over the last few years artists such as DJ Scotch Egg, Germlin, Ove Naxx and Yoko Oh No! have all come in a done live sessions with explosive results.

Hosted by gamers Tim and Euan with occasional additional players coming join in the talk of videogames past, present and future the music is as varied as the games discussed. Expect a core of chiptune both original and remixed with a healthy amount of gabba, jpop, original soundtracks and intense Mario Kart battles.

royal ascii lecture

ASCII // 15.03.09 // ASCII Present Aural Displeasure

To celebrate four weeks broadcasting on 106.6FM the ASCII Clinic is hosting a lecture on the Modulation of Soundwaves in conjunction with Dr Fletcher Munson of the Institute of Aural Displeasure. Dr Munson is well regarded in his field and since he enter semi retirement, appearances on Subcity have been quite rare.

In addition to Dr Munson, M.E. Lindsay shall assisting in the sound creation and knob twisting with the aim of find the harmonic resonance of a Sunday morning hangover.

zombie ascii ate my neighbours

This week ASCII got overrun by a horde of zombies, but nothing could stop Tim, Joe and myself from carrying on with the show. With the recent release of various living dead titles we discuss the past, present and future of zombies in video games an ask the important questions:

Can zombie sharks swim? Is there a more scary zombie than the dogs in Resident Evil?
