Beard magazine has been covering underground and cult music from Glasgow and beyond since 2003. Now young shavers Stewart and Neil, along with regular guests, bring you a shambolic but enthusiastic hour of beautiful, weird, funky and horrible sounds. Underground rock rubs up against free jazz, noise, world music, hip-hop, dubstep, folk and experimental music. Cult gems from days of yore hi-five the latest cutting edge sounds. We love weird and noisy shit, but we love pop too: there ain't no snobbery in these whiskers.

beard's bangin' beatles bop

Beard Radio // 06.05.10

Thursday sees Beard radio raise our thumbs aloft to the Fab Four as only we know how. Yes, it's our long-awaited Beatles special. Now, this might seem a somewhat mainstream, classic-rock kinda thing for us to do, but rest assured this is no predictable Mojo-style snooze fest featuring the same old stuff. Deep cuts, hidden solo gems, unusual covers, tunes that sample the Beatles, homages, and related acts... If you're the kind of Beatles fan who hates Yoko and loves Oasis then you might not like this show. We think you should listen in anyway and have your mind blown. Or if you're one of those people who says the Beatles are lame perhaps we can change your mind. As for everyone else, turn off your mind, relax and float downstream...

beard radio with special guest john cavanagh!

Beard Radio // 18.03.10

Beard Radio is delighted to announce our special guest, the legendary John Cavanagh! Radio presenter, musician, producer, writer and raconteur, John will be playing some of his favourite records, as well as some exclusive new tracks.

In addition to working for BBC Scotland and presenting his own weekly Soundwave show on Radio Six International, John has recently been producer for weird-folk luminaries Trembling Bells and Family Elan, while working on his own Phosphene project.

Past projects include a one-man show about electronic music goddess and BBC Radiophonic Workshop legend Delia Derbyshire, and a book in the 33 & 1/3 series on Pink Floyd's Piper At The Gates of Dawn. He has also been involved in the release of records by Derbyshire and Ron Geesin.

Read all about his activities here: http://www.phosphene.debrett.net/complete.htm

We're really excited for this show. Do tune in and turn on.
