Build And Destroy // 27.10.11 // Halloween Special
In anticipation of All Hallows' Eve, Build + Destroy this week takes a journey into the sinister with a selection of spooky sounds to summon the witches and warlocks. Turn the volume up and get your lanterns ready, for this is a collection of creepy tunes. Prepare to be visited by some strange guisers.

king of compilations
Build And Destroy // 13.10.11 // Compilations
We love compilations. They are a great way to get access to lots of different music in one go. It's great when your favourite artist makes a compilation up with their favourite tunes, or a record label compile one of all their vinyl releases. In fact, we even like all those old NOW compilations too. So tonight, we'll be playing tunes from a variety of compilations.
We hope you can tune in and discover something new and unheard to you.

Build And Destroy // 01.09.11 // Back Atcha!
Like Doctor Who no two seasons of Build + destroy are the same. We're back tonight after a summer of rebuilding ourselves from the feet up, and plan to hit the ground running. Sally's gone for a techno kind of a vibe, Andy's keeping his records close to his chest until 9pm...

guest mix from audiosyncracy
Build And Destroy // 26.05.11 // featuring Audiosyncracy in the mix
This week we have a guest mix from Audiosyncracy. Check out the blurb for more info.
Audiosyncracy is the work of Northern Irish Dj Nate Thompson. Often collaborating with long time co-creator Rob Swain, the two worked closely together during the mid-late 1990’s when they both contributed to the output of Fresco Recordings. Pioneers in their local arena they pushed quality vinyl in many of Belfast’s clubs and bars throughout the 90’s.
There’s been some exceptional solo material on several independent EP’s, tracks on obscure compilations and remixes to boot. ‘1997’ is a collection of the work produced in that year, most of which was up until recently unavailable. Now signed to gamma Proforma he had three releases last year with new material in the pipeline, expected to be released late 2011 on Gamma Proforma www.gammaproforma.com

We do have for this show an exclusive hardcore mini-mix from the one and only Mr Steve Stunts. It will be brief (about 10 minutes) but it will also be superb.

st andrew's day special
So tonight to celebrate St Andrew's day and all things Scottish we'll be playing music by Scottish musicians. It was tempting just to play two hours of Wet Wet Wet but we decided against this. Instead you can expect to hear the depressing tones of Arab Strap, Scottish beats courtesy of STS, ambience from Samoyed, bass speaker melting antics from Loops Haunt, post rock in the form of Mogwai and not forgetting the crooning of Rod Stewart!
So grab a can of Irn Bru, some short bread and tune in at 9pm tonight!

1996. lanark. a small rural scottish town.
Build And Destroy // 17.12.09 // back in the day...
It’s a Saturday afternoon. Somewhere at a desk an awkward dweeby bespectacled teen sits listening to the radio while studying for exams. Midway through a dull afternoon Jo Wiley (remember, it used to be ok to listen to her show) randomly chooses to play a tune by an obscure San Franciscan DJ/Producer. It catches the ear of the teen, they put down their workbook and scrabble frantically for the post-it notes kept handy for such occasions. Scrawling “Shadow Stem” onto a tacky scrap of dull yellow paper and slapping it up with the mosaic of other song notes on the wall beside the desk, they return to study…
Elsewhere in the same small town there’s Andrew. Living life with surgically attached headphones providing a constant stream of unadulterated Beastie Boys. Little did they know that a shared love of the record label which released DJ Shadow would stimulate a friendship that lasted decades and spanned the airwaves.
This week on Build and Destroy we celebrate musical exploration at the age of 15 and the joy of the late, formerly great, Mo’wax Records.

wrong date
Its been one of those weeks. Never create a facebook event on a tuesday when you normally do it on a wednesday.
Anyway, Build + Destroy will be a top show tonight. Expect to hear some soothing music and some unsoothing music.
Its too crazy out there in the real world. Why not brew a nice cup of tea and sit down and listen to Build + Destroy with the lights down low.

tune in tonight, it's better than defying gravity
No it is! Really.
Sally is still unwell, so it's just me on a solo mission again. I've got tunes from My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr., Animal Collective and some other people too.
Get in!
You can always listen again if you miss it.

tonight at 9pm.......
We'll be mainly be talking mince and playing some tunes.
However, we do have some exclusive tracks to play from Kelpe. He's got an album out at the moment called Cambio Wechsel and he has sent some exclusive live tracks to us. Catch some this week and I will play some more later in the year. His album is out now on DC Recordings.
There'll be some other tunes as well. I have a couple of 80s Edits to play and other stuff too. Not 100% sure what Sally will be playing, but expect it to be rough and tough.

relocation relocation
Build And Destroy // 05.11.09 // Bonfires, safety warnings and mushrooms
Tonight's show is going to be a treat... Andrew survived the wedding in England and has so far had this week off work, expect him to be energised. I'm in the process of moving house and am exhausted, expect mumbling. It's a wild juxtaposition of moods which can either provide a streamlined performance as we compliment each other and glide along in harmony, or turn into a car crash of bickering like an old married couple on a coach tour. Which will it be?? PLACE YOUR BETS NOW!
Posted at 11:36, 5th November 2009
don't be shy, give it a try...
Build And Destroy // 29.10.09 // Charlie says...
So Andrew's off on an adventure in England so I'll be joined tonight by a very special guest - my mate Charlie. He's a savvy street wise cool cat, with sage advice and a splendid assortment of goodies for you. I believe it includes a few things so exclusive he's not even told me what they're going to be... I've got a random collection of wares ranging from a future Dr. Rubberfunk single to Enduser, via Daedelus. NICE.

missing the masterchef final
Build And Destroy // 22.10.09 // Rock Me Amadeus
Well, the final for the Professionals Masterchef is on and in true Subcity fashion I always miss out on something decent on the tv when I am presenting the show. At least there is the BBC iPlayer these days, so its not all that bad. I remember for years I used to miss ER because of the show. Oh well. Anyway, tonight Sally will be playing tunes from 1979 to 2009 in honour of her friend Claire's birthday. I haven't decided on what to play tonight. I have a few exclusives to drop. Expect some cheese but most importantly, expect a great show. Tune in from 9pm tonight until 10pm.

Tune in tonight from 9pm purely for the reason that Build + Destroy is far superior to Nevermind The Buzzcocks. Who knows, we might even do an intro round for you to guess. Maybe with a prize too? Anyway, I guess we'll be playing the usual music. Expect to hear Husky Rescue, Paul White, Mark Pritchard, Superwolf and Rico. Yes, Sally has recovered enough from being ill to turn up! Should be good. Better than last week!
