i've given up nicotine for lent.

they say it helps if you replace one habit with another.

i tried biting my nails instead but i really don't like the way they taste. maybe i'm doing it wrong. maybe your not actually supposed to swallow them. who knows. maybe i'll take up a hard mans habit like gambling or smack. maybe i'll just start smoking again. meh.

todays shows. full of love, kittens and dubstep. plus a cheeky sprinkling of the usual big beats and perfect pop.

misery loves company.

Casio Canteen // 10.02.10

Its true.

Following one of this terms more debauched nights on the town...it would be fair to say the Casio Canteen reprobates were not operating quite at 100 percent. The tunes are finger lickin' jizz-worthy. the banter leaves the stale taste of flat beer and cigarettes in your mouth. We may have been feeling a little sorry for ourselves. self inflicted. rock and roll.

This week we were very lucky to be joined in the studio by none other than handsome hero-of-the-hour Son of Sven. Giving you his thoughts and feelings for the week, he imparts his worldly wisdom like a tall, muscular buddha.

i love you but i've chosen darkness...

Casio Canteen // 03.02.10

Golly gosh its cold in that deep, dark cave they call House & Techno. We took a little venture in a came out very chilly indeed. Today we present to you the findings from our expedition. its a small and mighty selection. more small and mighty than percil small and mighty. but its all about quality not quantity here at Casio Canteen. or something like that.

anyways. i've gone off on a bit of a tangent. a naughty little 20 minute mash-up of house and techno to tickle your tech-buds. its rad to the power of sick. don't fret though, we also have the usual sex-core, perfect pop, hip hop and dubstep to keep your entertained.

Casio Canteen // 27.01.10

geeeeeez louise.

what a week its been.

so this weekends Itch! has had to move both day and venue at the last minute. i'm not even gonna go into to too much or i may actually shed a manly man-tear. just one though. because we're hard as nails here at casio canteen.

we'll be holding this months soiree in the Research Club, university avenue. you will have likely walked past this venue at some point and thought...'what is it? is it a house? is it a pub? is it a club? is it an unusually located masonic lodge?'. yes, from the outside the building would appear to be more misleading than the channel 5 news....but that is in fact the research club, and tomorrow night from 9pm, we'll be turning it into a hedonistic hotspot!

The night kicks off at 9pm, we've got all the same DJ's as before. in fact, since we're more generous than [insert something witty] we've even added an extra couple of DJ's to the bill! bazingaaah

How'd ya like them apples......

Its gonna be big so get down early to make sure you get in. 5 bucks door damage. 29th January - 9pm - 2am - Research Club - University Avenue

oh yeah..and here's this weeks casio canteen. its actually one of my favourite episodes so far, a great mix of ambient electronica, grimy dubstep and perfect pop.

enjoy

cleopatra comin' atcha!

Casio Canteen // 20.01.10

Back from a stint in starbucks rehab.

far less caffeinated than usual, we return to our regular schedule bringing you the best in perfect electronic pop.

I do love our new slot, i'm a total sucker for anything with a good female vocal line, so arriving at the studio each week midway through Spill is always a treat. I decided to try and follow on from them by digging out some great beats with female vocals to kick off the show with. Ever since Gramophonedzie's track Why Don't You, i've been searching for tracks with a similar old school sound. This week we get things going with the awesome Brazilian Girls remix of the classic track Just One Of Those Things by Blossom Dearie, its a blinder. its also so catchy that it'll be stuck in your head for weeks.

love you all

Casio Canteen // 13.01.10

After a debauched sabbatical, Casio Canteen returns to the airwaves bringing you a show with a twist....the Anti-Casio Canteen you might say! We break away from the usual schedule to massage your ears with a motown medley celebrating a golden era in music when dinosaurs freely roamed the streets, men lived in caves....and yes, computers didn't exist. omgzzz. We had a good time doing this show. turntables are way more fun than CD players! if not a tad stressful. We've got some great tracks in there from the likes of Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and Diana Ross so tune in and zone out.

We've now moved to our new slot - every Wednesday afternoon at 3pm! Tune in next week for the usual helping of perfect electronic pop!
