Is That All There Is?
Initial Itch // 1500-1600 18.10.10
is that all there is?
No! We were just building anticipation for a Glasgay special brimming with delicious audio for your ears.
This week Rob Jones talks with award winning writers Louise Welsh and Zoe Strachan about their writing, their collaboration on Panic Patterns, and about what it means to be part of Glasgay in 2010. They've also kindly lined up a few tunes for us in the form of Tiergarten by Rufus Wainwright and Is That All There Is? by Peggy Lee.
We've snuck in a cheeky pair of sketches this week as well. They're called Touch the Fence and Janet's New House and they're by Fraser Boyle and Laurie Brown. Laurie's also performing as part of Glasgay in a show called UP which won a lot of praise at last year's Fringe and is now being shown at the CCA.
In keeping with the Glasgay theme, our pick of the week is the event Purple Against Homophobia, we have music from cabaret ensemble The Irrespressibles who'll be playing at the Arches in November, and we've unearthed W H Auden's own reading of his poem The Shield of Achilles. There's also some music from Brazillian punks OCIO, and we did record an interview with them too. Unfortunately the spirit of rock and roll seems to have turned the distortion up to eleven on this one and it's sadly not broadcastable.
But never fear! Fans of the Tron Theatre will know that Poorboy's Blood and Roses is set to be one of the big events of the year. We'll be back next week to interview its director Sandy Thomson alongside collaborating visual artist Jennifer Robson. So keep listening to Initial Itch as it sets your brains ablaze.
