Euro-Nation on the Streets of Glasgow

euro-nation on the streets of glasgow
Listeners already know Initial Itch to be a worldly, cosmopolitan show of global relevance. But just to drive the point home we get all European this week as the IETM (the Informal European Theatre Meeting) has chosen Glasgow to host its November get together.
Poorboy's Blood and Roses has been selected to be part of the IETM's artistic showcase, so we sent rambling man Colin Chaloner across town for a report from director Sandy Thomson and collaborating artist Jennifer Robson. It's a piece of promenade audio-theatre for the Tron, and back in the studio it prompted some lively chatter about iPads and audio tours, and about some of the other IETM work coming up, Fish and Game's Alma Mater and Dogstar's Tailor of Inverness included.
There's another audio voyage in store in the form of Harry Wilson's piece for the Forest Fringe's Travelling Sounds Library, called A Brief History of Sound. And the universal language makes an appearance too: music this week includes the chilling, unrelenting Amsterdam by Jacques Brel, Swedish hip hop from Snook, mellow electronica from Erland Oye, and of course Trans Europe Express by Kraftwerk.
