Hey folks,

This week's show jumps on the BBC's recent Latin music bandwagon (http://www.bbc.co.uk/musictv/latinmusicusa/).

I'll be playing a selection of Nuyorican, Cuban, Mexican, Brazilian, Puerto Rican and other Latin-based tunes.

Artists likely to features include Mongo Santamaria, Joe Bataan, Afro-Cuban All Stars, Ray Barretto, Jorge Ben and more.

The Weird But Wonderful contenders are plucked from the excellent 1996 Masters At Work collaboration with a number of Latin music legends; the eponymous album, 'Nuyorican Soul':

1. Nuyorican Soul ft. India - Runaway

Originally recorded by the Salsoul Orchestra, with Loleatta Holloway on vocals, back in 1977; this version is pretty faithful and features a number of the original Salsoul musicians.

2. Nuyorican Soul ft. Jocelyn Brown - I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun

Another fairly faithful (but updated for the House generation) cover - this time of the Rotary Connection's 1971 original.
