Out Of Africa

Hey folks,

Journeys returns on Sunday with another visit to Africa. I'll be playing a few old favourites from last year's African shows and a few 'new' ones too. Expect to hear Fela Kuti, Manu Dibango, The Mercury Dance Band, Orchestra Baobab, William Onyeabor and more!

The Spotlight is on Ethiopia this week. I was tempted to do a full show on Ethiopian music, but I figured that as a slightly acquired taste, it might not be enjoyed as much by the listeners as it was by the host - I also did a full hour show last year! Instead I'm going to play just a few of my favourite tracks by artists such as Alemayehu Eshete, Ayalew Mesfin and Mahmoud Ahmed.
