artistry in rhythm - sun 22nd march 2009 12-2 pm

Hey folks,

Back to reality, and the old internet only for Journeys. So sad, so sad. :)

This week's show is a tiny little toe-dip into the multi-layered and often unintelligible world of jazz. I'll be playing some jazz greats that you can tap a foot to, rather than anything too challenging (I don't listen to that kind of stuff myself, so why 'inflict' it on you guys, eh?!).

Artists likely to feature include Miles Davis, Django Reinhardt, Antonio Carlos Joabim, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Herbie Hancock, Masters At Work and a few more I haven't even thought of yet.

This week's Weird But Wonderful vote is between a couple of jazz covers of Nirvana songs. Yes, jazz covers of Nirvana songs. Jazz artists have always played versions of the popular tunes of their day, and these dudes had no problems leaping aboard the grunge bandwagon for a while - purely in an effort to broaden the appeal of jazz to the 'yoof', you understand:
