tonight's mixtape

For those of you who like your nights long, we'll be taking a celebratory look back at some top Subcity sets from past events.

We'll be playing audio from the Subcity Hi-Fi events back in 2008, as well as the Block Party event from 2007.

Expect a range of dance music, from hip-hop to soul to some severe and heavy dub.

Hopefully this should get your feet tapping in preparation for the Subcity event at the Research Club this Wednesday where you can check out Benny Boom, Killer Kitch, Theez Boyz R Athletes and the Bentinck Sessions.

Tonight we offer three specially made mixtapes by some excellent DJs.

All available from the mixtapes section of the forum, these three gems have avoided airplay until now.

Mixtape 1 - Simon Bryan

Focussing mostly on the more underground side of techno, Simon Bryan delivers a distinctive blend of music. The mixtape starts off with deeper and quite dubby, before gradually developing a more in your face style towards the end.

Specially made for Subcity, this mixtape is an electro marathon of tunes. Expect the second hour of tonight's mixtapes sessions to pick up the tempo and really get you moving. You can catch Theez Boyz R Athletes playing at the Research Club on Wednesday 16th September.

Mixtape 3 - Benny Boom - Bass Go Boom Mixtape

For the last hour we will bring you the latest mix by Mixed Bizness's Benny Boom. Anyone whose ever seen Benny's effect on the floor at the Art School on a Thursday, or one of his numerous appearences at Subcity events, will know just how good he can be. This mixtape is his latest musical offering, and makes for the perfect musical treat to round off the first Mixtapes Session.

Benny Boom will be playing alongside Theez Boyz R Athletes at the Research Club this Wednesday the 16th. Doors open at 8:30pm and it goes on to 2am. Free with a Freshers Pass, £4 without.
