Art/Goes/Pop Launch Special
Pop Goes The Revolution // 1100-1300 27.11.08
massive two hour art/goes/pop special
This week Pop Goes The Revolution rallies up the revolutionary feel as we arrive on Subcity with a massive TWO HOUR special filled with more extensive features than we ever thought we’d be able to cram onto a show.
On Monday the 1st December Leeds based Record Label Art/Goes/Pop will release a brand new compilation CD featuring some of the finest bands from across Glasgow entitled Glasgow School of Art Goes Pop. Since they first released the debut single by Popup, Art/Goes/Pop’s passion for the Glasgow music scene has swelled till near explosion, and they have already released more singles by Isosceles, Nacional and The Low Miffs.
Now they have taken their passion to the next level and have brought out a compilation album featuring some of the best 23 bands from across Glasgow including the likes of We Were Promised Jetpacks, Triple School, Punch & The Apostles, and Hidden Masters. At the same time, working in conjunction with The Glasgow School of Art they set up a project whereby twenty-three students would each design a series of limited edition 7” sleeves for each one of the bands on the album, perfectly combining Art and Pop into the one tight ball.
With the package of Art and Pop complete and ready to be unleashed, Pop Goes The Revolution brings you an in depth preview of what is to be expected. On a one off two-hour special of the show we will drop all our usual shackles of pessimism, and bring you a plethora of treats as we marvel in enthusiastic delight. The show will be featuring interviews with Plaaydoh, Ming Ming & The Ching Chings and Sparrow & The Workshop, plus we have three of the artists behind the art project guesting on the show and giving their opinions on the tunes, and to top if off there is Nacional talking to the show and playing a few acoustic songs from live in our tiny studio.
So tune in at the earlier time of 11am this Thursday as we bring you a close up look at the Glasgow School or Art Goes Pop compilation and you get to discover exactly what the world is missing out on, and get to be left in eager anticipation of the launch on Monday.
This is the revolution we have been waiting for.
