Built To Grind

.. is it noise or sweet sweet music?

This week's episode is rather chaotic - there's some gentle indie-rock from Cymbals Eat Guitars just to ease you in, as well as a healthy dose of punk rock from the recently reformed At The Drive-In and Refused at the gentler end of the scale. Also here: Cease Upon the Capitol dish out some cathartic post-hardcore, and Allie bring some spazzed-out punk tricks with their contribution to this week's Songs for Singles.

But the real treat here is the recommended record: Grind Madness at the BBC, an 118-track, 3-disc compilation featuring several forerunners of the English grindcore scene of the late 80s/early 90s. Great fun. The comedown? The opening track from an album I thoroughly recommend: "Unknown Lands" by The Caution Children. Hey, it's free, why not?
