Black One

dark matters

This week's show focuses on music rooted in the black metal sound, though all of the tracks here stretch the definition of the genre in some way. A lot of the focus is on interesting acts coming out of the U.S. rather than on black metal's origins in Norway, though the show does kick off with a couple of artists from there.

As well as this week's recommended record, I'd like to draw your attention to Mamaleek, a very experimental (and shadowy) duo from San Francisco. You can pay what you want (or don't pay at all) for their new record "Kurdaitcha", which is available for download here. Pick it up on vinyl if you like what you hear - it's limited to 150 copies!

I'll be doing loose genre-specific shows like this from time to time. In doing so I hope to provide an introduction of sorts to certain types of music through personal recommendations. Let me know if you think this is a good idea by leaving me a comment here.

Fuck kvlt - you are not excluded. This music is for you, whoever you may be.
