aloha from hell - a tribute to lux interior
An hour-long tribute celebrating the insane life and music of Lux Interior, frontman of infamous psychobilly punks The Cramps. B-movie camp, comic book gore, trashy burlesque and leather-clad rock and roll were all trademarks of The Cramps' sound and image. They spawned a million imitators but Lux remained one of the most uniquely derranged performers in punk. A sex-crazed satanic Elvis, Lux was also a renowned afficianado on outer limits rock and roll, amassing a huge of volume of surf, rockabilly, garage punk and far-out country records. Many of these records' riffs were 'borrowed' for Cramps songs, and a lot them were given a second life through the 'Born Bad' and 'Songs the Cramps Taught Us' compilations.
Sadly, Lux sank into the great black leather lagoon in the sky in early February.
RIP Lux.
