no show tonight

That's right - NO SHOW - sorry to let down our die-hard audience but due to unforseen circumstances we have to give tonight's show a miss. You can however listen to previous episodes from the archive anytime - last week's was pretty decent...

haggis, neeps and titties...

Synth // 25.01.12 // Digital Switchover in the mix...

So this week's show happened to fall on Burns' night and as such our Tea Time Rave Off was specially heavy, encouraging you to through a wobbly with your Haggis. Provided by up and coming Electro-starlet, Digital Switchover, you can expect big basslines and some exclusive material from his forthcoming EP.

New music came from the likes of Zayn, Holobeams & Broken Machines and Dersonna, plus Soosh, Weakhunt and Slow It Down fought it out for our Local Hero award (although as is usually the case, all three were deserved of the title). Big in the game...

Synth // 18.01.12 // Indra in the mix...

So this week we had Rumours resident and all-round talented disc-slinger, Indra in the mix. Providing a specially extended Tea Time Rave Off you can expect the finest in that all-encompassing genre we call 'bass'. New music this week came from the likes of Zayn, Mirrors and Ovr Kill, while Dominic Martin, Sei A and Mermaids got out their jousting sticks for our Local Hero award. In other news, Synth will be going monthly soon in a two hour extravagansa - more news on that shortly...

back in the building...

Synth // 11.01.12 // Hot for 2012

It certainly felt good to be back in the studio this week! Due to unforseen circumstances we had to miss a few shows towards the end of last year but we're back now and not planning on going anywhere. The first show of 2012 was all about the names you need to be looking out for over the next twelve months and with the exception of this week's guest mix, every song on the show was from a Glasgow producer - we've got a good feeling about this year!

New music came from the likes of Ovr Kill, Mirrors and Dynamode, while Raksha, Konchis and Sega Bodega fought it out for our Local Hero award. We also had Pasty32 of Level Thirtytwo in the mix, laying down some super chilled Hip Hop for a Wednesday evening. Check out his show on Subcity here: http://www.subcity.org/shows/thirtytwo/

no show tonight...heavy gash

Unfortunately due to reasons beyond our control there will be no show tonight- apologies. You can always listen again to one of the previous episodes via Subcity's listen again feature and we should be back next week with a big, bouncy guest mix from Pasty32.

In the meantime you can always enter our competition to win tickets for How's Your Party? Present Benga at the Sub Club next Friday (just a suggestion): http://www.synthglasgow.com/blog/196/56/How-s-Your-Party-Present-Benga-Win-Tickets.html

don't sleep...

Synth // 09.11.11 // Forty Winks in the mix...

So as we hurtle towards Christmas the nights are getting longer and our show on Subcity is getting darker. For the first half of tonight's episode we went deep into the mix with some of our favourite House & Techno doing the rounds at the moment, featuring the likes of Slam, Rob Etherson & Eats Everything. Fortywinks provided this week's Tea Time Rave Off with some dangerous grooves to get you moving into the weekend, plus Tim Narloch, Domsko & Bass City Rollaz fought it out for our Local Hero Award. Trust us, this week it was TIGHT.

Synth // 02.11.11 // Theez Boyz R Athletes in the mix...

We hope you've been doing your stretches because this week we had Subcity's in-house fitness instructors, Theez Boyz R Athletes in the mix. Providing a sweaty melt of grooving Disco, jacked up House and badman bashment, you can expect to burn quite a few calories through the course of ten minutes. Elsewhere, we started on a smooth-tip this week with Pasty32, Rob Etherson and Simi Simi easing us into Wednesday evening, while Mia Dora, Grobbie and click Refresh battled it out for our Local Hero award. Synth // 26.10.11 // Will Da Beast in the mix...

It was all about those pesky Duo boys this week as Will Da Beast provided a super-phat, turbo mix in for our Tea Time Rave Off. With the likes of JME, Mosca, Zinc & Brenmar all crammed into ten minutes you can expect your fair share of bass. On top of that, they also featured in our Local Hero run down competeting against Gary Beck and a new collaboration between Fall & Bronagh Monahan. New music also came from Domsko, Mia Dora, Colo and Cur$es...it were well tight.

let me clear my throat...

Synth // 19.10.11 // NoFace in the mix..

This week's show was a lot of fun, not least because I (Alaska) had to keep clearing my throat (it sounded like Father Jack regurgitating twenty years of cigarette depositary) but also because we had Mixking's NoFace in the mix, throwing down ten minutes of bouncy Hip Hop, RnB and Ghetto-Crunk. Check out the links below, he's probably one of the most talented boys we know.

We also went in on a bit of a House tip to start the show with some classic material from HaHaHa & Raksha, plus new stuff from Pablo Rez and Dynamode. Finally, our Local Hero award came right down to the wire with Mia Dora, Domsko & Simon Stokes all in the running...serious heat.

Synth // 12.10.11 // Megamegaman in the Mix...

We had Heartbeat's head-honcho Megamegaman in the mix this week and boy, did he bring the heat. With fresh-to-death Hip Hop from Glasgow's Typikal to classic joints from LL, he managed to cram a whole lot of VIBEZ into ten minutes! We also had tricked-out flavours from the likes of Rustie, S-Type and Thiskk while Daniel Donnelly, Julius Funkhouser & Sei A fought out a closely contested battle for our Local Hero award. Big news on a forthcoming mix series here at Synth too! Badman

deep & dangerous

Another hot show this week on Synth! We've had some quality guest mixes over the last few weeks and they just keep getting better. This week Dynamode went in deep for our Tea Time Rave Off producing something a little different to what we've had recently. S-Type, Typikal and Cur$es battled it out for our Local Hero award and new music came from the likes of Simi Simi, Grobbie and Roose. BIG in the game.

everybody thrust!

Synth // 28.09.11 // Thrust Club in the mix...

Really starting to get back into the swing of things now after the summer break. As usual tonight's show featured some of the finest new music coming out of Glasgow right now with hot tunes from the likes of OOFT!, Rob Etherson and Harvey McKay. Thrust club provided perhaps our finest Tea Time Rave Off to date with a ten minute mix which literally made us kak our pants, plus Beta, Rustie and HiRO stepped up to the plate for our Local Hero award.

If you fancy downloading Thrust Club's mix you can do it here: http://soundcloud.com/thrustclub/put-your-thrust-in-me-minimix

represent represent!

Synth // 21.09.11 // Click Refresh in the mix...

One of our biggest shows to date? Quite possibly. This week featured some of the best music we have ever brought you, all locally sourced and sounding completely fresh. Looking down the tracklist, we featured only two songs from outside Glasgow, with the rest standing testament to just how well the local scene is doing at the moment.

Big tunes came from the likes of Harvey McKay, Forty Winks, Beta and The Revenge, while up and coming rave-tech producer, Click Refresh provided our Tea Time Rave Off, almost blowing the monitors in the process. Our Local Hero award this week could well have been the most closely contested to date, with Daniel Donnelly, Simi Simi and Barrientos turning out some simply incredible music. As we say every week, labels listen up...half this stuff isn't even signed!

* We made a light error when talking about Simi Simi's track 'La Paz' - it is infact new and unsigned and you can check them out here: http://soundcloud.com/simisimi

back on air

Synth // 07.09.11 // Summer flashback...

We're back in the studio and getting far too excited for our own good. We've been stockpiling the tunes over the summer and tonight they were unleashed down your headphone extension like a tiger in your local butcher. Expect to hear fresh cuts from local producers such as Mia Dora, Jinty, Grobbie, Dynamode and Ovr Kill, plus hot shit from outside the city by Julio Bashmore, Scuba and Cadenza.

The Revenge, Hudson Mohawke and Ovr Kill battled it out for our Local Hero award (they're all winners in our eyes) and the bass was naughty.

Catch us every Wednesday from 6-7pm. Next week: Grobbie in the mix

Sorry to break it to you, but there will be no show from us on Subcity tonight. Too much partying last weekend did a number on us so we're straight illin'. We suggest checking out a recent episode and we'll be back next week!

3 episodes to go...

Synth // 25.05.11 // Straightline heat...

Can you believe it? We've got only three more shows before Subcity breaks for the summer, what are we going to do between 6-7pm every Wednesday now huh? Naturally we need to make the last three count and tonight's episode was straight fiyah...

Starting off on some deep Moombahsoul vibes we went through future Hip Hop heat from Peace & AC, tricked out Dubstep from Dillon Francis, smooth House grooves from Ooft! and HaHaHa before our incredibly addictive Blog Burner from Drake - sampling Jai Paul no less. The Tea Time Rave Off was all about the 2011 House rhythms and our Local Hero Award was closely contested between Milton Jackson, Simon Stokes and Julius Funkhouser..

supa beatz and turbo rhythmz

Synth // 11.05.11 // Dang Girlfriend...

So after last week's special episode featuring brass-crazed Trumpeter, Ray Foxx we had nothing but straight tunes this week - and they were sounding BIG. I know we say that every week but this time we truly mean it (not that we haven't on any of the other occasions).

Quality House vibes from Broke One, Prince Club, HaHaHa & Raksha, big bassey Drum&Bass from Ray Vose and straight future Hip Hop vibes from Lunice & Indra. We also had a rather deep Tea Time Rave Off, a super sexy Blog Burner from Tensnake and a closely heated battle for the Local Hero award between Dirty Basement, AKA-SA and Megamegaman.

Get on it.

ray foxx

Synth // 04.05.11 // Ray Foxx in the mix...

You must simply know when you’ve got it – that one tune that people are going to instantly react to, the tune that is going to soundtrack a summer. For London based producer Ray Foxx, that tune is ‘The Trumpeter’ – a brass laden, feel-good House number with a bassline which resonates pure, head-nodding funk. The Spanish conquistador vibe is one that we are currently loving and as such invited Ray to provide a special guest mix for our show this week...

We also had an interview with the man himself on our blog, check it out here:

Synth // 27.04.11 // Turbo competition & Ray Foxx announcment

Well, after missing last week's show thanks to the ongoing roadworks on the M80 we certainly came back with an aresnal of heavy tunage tonight. Super dubbed out RnB from The Weeknd, throwback House from Broke One, intergalactic DrumnBass from Marcus Intalex and local heat from the likes of Sei A, Adam Forbes & Domsko - BIG

We also had a very special announcment about Ray Foxx who will be providing an exclusive guest mix on next week's show. Not to mention the 'Spectra Presents...Turbo Recordings' competition, our mics down/music up Tea Time Rave Off and the closely matched Local Hero Award. Damn, we had fun...

heatseeker: shoot to kill

Synth // 06.04.11 // Turbo Grooves

We've only got ten shows left on Subcity before the summer break now and the music just gets better and better. Tonight we had one of the most tightly contested Local Hero awards since we started doing the feature, with Aymard, Monopunk and mysterious new producer, Ovr Kill all clashing over the prestigous title.

The Tea Time Rave Off was strictly dub based with low-slung Hip Hop, jump up Dubstep mainroom Rave. Meanwhile our Blog Burner went to Ray Foxx for his summer anthem in waiting 'The Trumpeter' and we also had new music from Joy Orbison, Julio Bashmore and B-Tone. It were phat.

Synth // 16.03.11 // Dedicated to Nate Dogg: King of the chorus

Hip Hop lost a true legend yesterday. King of the hook and West Coast original Nate Dogg past away and we thought it only right to start this week's show with a certified classic in the form of 'Regulate' with Warren G. Nate Dogg was an inspiration in Hip Hop and we're looking forward to digging through his back catalogue this weekend! Sad times...

Anyway, local heat to move your feet came from the likes of Raksha Vs HaHaHa, Domsko, Koreless and Quahaze this week while OOFT!, Worx & Barrientos battled it out for our Local Hero Award - quite possibly the closest contest we've ever had!

Nothing but big tings on this week's show...

After finally recovering from Subcity's Sweet Sixteen (big thanks to everyone who came down early to catch our Hip Hop nonsense) it was time to get some big tunes together, and as always Glasgow produced. Raksha dropped a free EP on us last week which provided us with a few gems as well as the new Heartbeats compilation 'Beastiality' which is finally available for free download.

Further to that we had new heat from Profisee, Julio Bashmore and Classixx as well as the customary Tea Time Rave Off which was distinctly Garage tinged this week. GET ON IT YO

Synth // 02.03.11 // Happy birthday to ya....Subcity is 16!

Damn yo, where did the time go? Seems like only yesterday Subcity was broadcasting out of a kitchen in the mid-90s and now we're going in big at The Arches for the second year running. That's right, this Saturday is Subcity's sixteenth birthday and we're getting our party face on for a night of out and out bass abuse. The line up includes our pals Beat Beneath, Hahaha b2b with Raksha, Jackie Your Body, One More Tune, Data Rape and of course your fave radio fools..Synth.

We'll be kick starting the dance arch from 11.40-12.20am, playing a variety of badman riddims and getting seriously silly. You can still get your £8 advance ticket from the SRC Reception in the John Macintyre building or Arches box office, we suggest you get firmly involved.

The biggest show to date? Quite possibly. We had PMcQ roll through with a Tea Time Rave Off to make 2 Many DJ's shit themselves. You can download the mix for free from PMcQ's Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/pmcq

Further to that we had local heat from Megamegaman, Raksha & Monopunk as well as worldwide tunage from Dillon Francis, Seiji and Skepta. Synth // 16.02.11 // Local heat to move your feet...

A Big week here at Synth, not only have we got a super-Sunday session this weekend at Spectra but Subcity also announced their sixteenth birthday plans and they are BIG. Some of the station's finest shows and DJ's will be taking the hold of The Arches on March 5th to eat cake and get messy. no show tonight

We've let down Subcity, we've let down our listeners, but most of all we've let down ourselves. Unfortunately we can't make it in for tonight's show due to a combination of violent diarrhoea and a complete lack of preparation - so instead of rushing out to the toilet every 5mins while delivering questionable links we thought it better to give it a swerve and come back fresh as Big Daddy Kane next week.

Once again we apologise and suggest you check out some old episodes for the shits and giggles (no pun intended) x

kid robotik clinches the local hero award...

Synth // 02.02.11 // Skills to pay the bills...

SO MUCH GOOD MUSIC. We don't like to toot our own horn, but beep fucking beep. This week's episode of Synth on Subcity Radio featured some utterly incredible local heat from the likes of Dersonna, NoFACE, Quahaze and Dirty Basement, while Massive Music's latest signing Kid Robotik stole the Local Hero award from Simon Bryan and Kabur - both equally bangin' in their own right.

This week's Blog Burner came from J Kamata & 2000F for their new mix on Encore - a deep slice of dubwise soul which rumbles away like distant thunderstorm. Serious heat. Trust.

Other musical delights came from James Blake, Broke One, Cassius & Harvard Bass, so what you waitin' on fool? Get listenin!

fluster sweat & some reet decent tunes....

Synth // 19.01.11 // Running late & in a state

Yes, we were a bit late getting off the mark with this week's how. Trust me, had you seen us tearing through Glasgow city centre shouting at incompetent drivers then you'd understand our sweaty flustering.

Tonight we had two Blog Burner's, the first provided by Brighton Disco diamonds 'Maxxi Soundsystem' with their re-edit of Alexander O' Neal's 80's piano-house classic 'Criticize', and the second came from Zed Bias with a cut off his new album called 'Salsa Funk' - heavy.

Raksha, Kid Robotik & Daniel Donnelly all battled it out for the title of Local Hero with three exceptional tunes. Who won? You'll need to listen to find out. They're all winners in our book though. RESPECT

merry new year...

Synth // 12.01.11 // Styling & Profiling: Big things for 2011

So we're back on Subcity for 2011, feeling fresh and extremely excited about the New Year! So much amazing music to play you over the coming weeks and I'm pleased to say that a lot of it is local heat...Glasgow producers are really coming in strong this year!

This week we featured local music from Mia Dora, Barrientos, Slow It Down, Dersonna & Quahaze - all sounding utterly exceptional. Not to mention this week's Local Hero, Simon Bryan with his track 'Intersect'. We also put forward some of our predictions for the biggest up and comers of 2011 with Broke One, Canblaster, Jamie XX & Julio Bashmore. Quahaze provided our Tea Time Rave Off with an exceptional funk-tastic mix and this week's Blog Burner came from The Magician with his mix on Lykke Li's new single 'I Follow Rivers'. All in all, a great way to start the year!

synth's big fat chronological review of the year..

Synth // 15.12.10 // Review of the year...

So firstly let me apologise for missing last week's show, I did try and make it in, but after getting stuck on the M80 for two hours and finding myself sliding off the road everytime I tried to park, the whole mission just turned into a complete whitey.

However, I made a special effort to make it in to the last show of the year and what a show it was! Don't think I've ever had that much fun in the Subcity Studio (well, at least that I can talk about on here). 60's songs, two minutes a song, ten minutes a month, right through from January to December in our chronological review of the year - it was absolutely MASSIVE! 2010 was truly a great year for music and I think we've captured the best of it here.

Synth on Subcity will be back Jan 12th at the same time with more plentiful tunage and seriously reduced nonsensical chat. Have a great Xmas! x

P.S Remember our blog will still be in operation over Christmas and we still want to hear your music, so get in touch!

snowed in.....but do not fear

Synth // 01.12.10 // Killer Kitsch take over...

Yes, after wishing on some monumental Arctic blast last week it seems my wishes were granted and then some. I've been snowed in for three days which means I couldn't get down to the studio last night to present the show. However, the ever willing Killer Kitsch massif were on had to deliver the goods.

Pushing the best electro, house, techno and em, drumstep, Euan & Dave brought the filth for two hours of highly entertaining radio. Big exclusives from Reset!, Drop The Lime and Ado, plus a twenty minute mix of Mash Up Madness from Euan certainly helped bring the heat on an otherwise frosty Wednesday evening.

In otherwords, it was pure dead bangin' like.

Remember, Killer Kitsch, Muck & Dirty Noise join forces to bring Reset! & Ado to Stereo this Friday night. Check the Facebook event here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=170838169609953

yep, i pretty much can't get my act together...

Synth // 24.11.10 // Blog Burner from Broke One...

Unfortunately I've just been too busy to get a whole 2hr show together recently, for which I apologise. However, it means the one hour I have been able to program has been crammed with massive tunage from Glasgow & around the world. Apart from one of the CD's just falling silent at one point this week, we had a fairly uber-fantastical show.

Dersonna stole the title of 'Local Hero' this week with a massive track from his forthcoming EP called 'Cut & Paste' - big, hip hop inspired techno which is sure to cause carnage on the dancefloor. Hot new Italian producer Broke One took the Blog Burner with a huge jackin' slice of 90's inspired house calld 'Tribute To An Era' - I'm backing this guy for 2011 in a big way.

I'm going for the full 2hr jump off next week so expect a twenty minute mix of Mash Up Madness from Killer Kitsch champion mixer Euan Neilson plus all the usual features.

I also recently caught up with the Vitamins crew ahead of their initimate party this Saturday in a secret sweatbox somewhere in Glasgow. Check out the interview on the Synth blog: http://www.synthesiseglasgow.blogspot.com/

1 hour

Synth // 17.11.10 // Blog Burner from The Phantom's Revenge: Fun-kee

Crammmming the tunes in this week! We were only on air for an hour as I'm basically phenomenally unorganised at the moment (promise we'll be back to the full two hours next week). Having said that, we still managed to squeeze in a Blog Burner from The Phantom's Revenge (big, filtered French house at it's best), a Drum&Bass themed Tea Time Rave Off (some of my favourite D&B cuts from the last two months in ten minutes), plus we crowned Rob Etherson our Local Hero for his driving techno remix of Barrientos 'Breathe'.

Four show's left after this one...expect big tings.

mid week madness with lucha libre

Synth // 10.11.10 // Lucha Libre bring the heat....

A slightly shorter show then usual last night - but teeming with quality tunage nonetheless. Locally produced music is becoming increasingly popular on our show with the true extent of Glasgow's talent becoming apparent. Our Local Hero award went to Barrientos for his mix on the new Peace track 'Sleeper', but we also had music from ESQ & Rob Etherson, Dersonna, Dajosm, Slow It Down & Daniel Donnelly - all Glasgow based.

Lucha Libre provided this week's twenty minute mix of Mash Up Madness which is without doubt a contender for mix of the year, plus this week's official Blog Burner went to Black Van - a new project between Kris Menace & Kowesix. All in all another big show, we even had someone trying to sell shoes via email.

Check it out.....

Synth // 03.11.10 // Kid Robotik guest mix/Double Blog Burner

With only six shows left before Christmas it's officially time to start packing them in, and last night was a perfect start with a total of 36 tracks crammed into two hours. We had not one, but two Blog Burners from Crystal Castles & Daft Punk, our Local Hero award went to Dajosm for his simply massive tech-trance number 'Fun Fuel', plus Kid Robotik provided a bass-squelching guest mix in 20Mins Of Mash Up Madness.

IT WERE WELL BIG

We also had a garage influenced Tea Time Rave Off and my nonsense chat was at an all time low...

Hurrrah!

You can download Kid Robotik's slammin' 20Min mix of Mash Up Madness here:

smooth grooves...

Synth // 27.10.10 // Digitalism exclusive....

A BIG show last night on Subcity event though it was technically smaller. We were only on air for an hour and a half as I had to leave early to prepare for Naive at the Sub Club, but the tunes pumping through the studio monitors were PHat (yes, with a PH and everything).

This week's Blog Burner came from Digitalism with their new track 'Blitz' which is quite frankly the hottest slice of electro to penetrate your ear chasms this year. We also awarded Warschauer the tile of Local Hero for his super-slammin' new track 'Numbers Up', plus we got heavy messy in our Tea Time Rave Off before chillaxing with our Hangover 3.

do your sums...

Synth // 20.10.10 // Polymath guest mix....

So last night we had Inverness based wonderkid Polymath in the mix bringing a big bag of freak-naughty shit to our twenty minute mix of Mash Up Madness. Think energy-ridden electro laced with jump up techno...it was BIG. We also played an exclusive track from his forthcoming Volta EP on Glasgow based label 3rd Astract Records.

Check him out on Soundcloud here: http://soundcloud.com/polymath

You can also catch him at the Our Appreciation Society launch party at the Art School this Saturday. Facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=118702434846269

Usual features included our Tea Time Rave Off with some phat grime/dubstep action, Blog Burner from MJ Cole & Wiley, plus we crowned Quahaze of Nuke The Moon our Local Hero. Nonsense level: moderate.

how not to do a radio show...

Synth // 13.10.10 // Nonsense on another level...

So last night's episode of Synth on Subcity was a wee bit of a shambles it must be said. You can tell when I put in some serious prep work and when I don't, and last night was definitely an example of the latter. Don't get me wrong the music was as usual AMAZING...so much good dance music about at the moment! But with CD's skipping, seismic shifts in the studio and my cue points all out of sync things got messy....quickly.

However, new music came from Sigma, Treasure Fingers, Wolfgang Gartner & Chromeo, our Local Hero award went to Pasty32 for his exceptional new track 'Clerkenwell', we had the obligatory Tea Time Rave Off, plus N.E.R.D & Daft Punk provided this week's Blog Burner. Listen for a bit of a laugh and some well decent tunage yo.

Back same time next week with Polymath in the mix. x

*Having listened back to it now, it's not as bad as I first thought. Second hour is questionable

mid week mash up business...

Synth // 29.09.10 // MGCK guest mix...

Another BIG show last night on Subcity Radio! Can't tell you how happy I am with our new slot this year, 3am on Sunday morning was just dangerous on so many levels but a 6-8 on a Wednesday evening is just perfect (mainly because I'm not off my tits). So last night new music came from the likes of Tiga, Toddla T, Russ Chimes & Screendeath while our Local Hero award was given to Salvador Navarette for his haunting track 'Ballet'.

This week's official Blog Burner came from Passion Pit with a hot new mix from Grum on 'Sleepyhead', while we also encouraged you to get messy with your alphabetti spaghetti in our Tea Time Rave Off. Finally, MGCK of Mixed Business provided this week's 20Min Mix Of Mash Up Madness. Nothing but big tings!

I also need to tell you that we'll be taking the sounds of this show to new weekly night 186 Bath St at Hummingbird next Wednesday for a night of proper mash up business. I'll be bringing a couple guests with me to turn up the heat and it will also be a rare occasion when I actually indulge in some mid-week boozing which should be fun! More info soon...

straight back on it...

Synth // 22.09.10 // B-Tone guest mix...

So we're back after a big long summer off air and our first show was all about getting back in the groove, relocating my radio voice and constantly adjusting mic levels. Thankfully it was also about some AMAZING music. Somehow we've managed to convince Subcity programming to let us loose over two hours this year so we've introduced some new features to get your rave juices bubbling.

In this episode we crowned Dirty Basement as our 'Local Hero', an award given to the hottest locally produced track over the last seven days, with contenders coming from Mausr and ESQ. We encouraged you to 'get messy with your Alphabetti Spagetti' in our Tea Time Rave Off, plus B-Tone, resident of Spectrum provided this week's 20min mix of Mash Up Madness. This week's Blog Burner was a hot new remix from RackNRuin on a B-Side single from I Blame Coco and we also had an essential run down of all the hottest parties going on in Glasgow this weekend.

Shit starts at 3Min 30Sec....

While I'm at it, I'll also point you in the direction of our new Blog which is focused on bringing together the finest Glasgow has to offer through interviews with promoters & DJ's, reviews & previews of club nights, plus lots of mixes and streams of the hottest new tunes from Glasgow's many local producers.

Check that sheet here: http://www.synthesiseglasgow.blogspot.com/

In the meantime we'll be back next Wed from 6-8. Boom time. x

summer

Synth // 04.06.10 // Last episode before the summer!!!!!!!! BIG

Ok, so firstly, a HUGE thanks to everyone who made it down to Synth last Friday at The Admiral. A quiet one in town, but ridiculously messy down at The Admiral regardless...as with the radio show bringing all these different styles and sounds together on one night is really exciting. Starting with the undeniably smooth and seductive electro vibes of ESQ & Matthias, into a deeply erotic journey through funky town with the Thunder Disco boys, followed by a bass attack and heavy screw face by Pasty & Twonko, a dubstep danger donk by Mgck and then Shuan & Cheesy's sensational mega-mash up at the end.

Joe Crogan also had the visuals on lock with a searing display of mega-optics to accompany the mighty soundclash. RESPECT BRUVA

That was the last night before the summer, but we'll be returning in September with more massive line ups, cramming as many DJ's into one line up as humanly possible and prangin' out in the process.

Finally, last Friday was also the last radio show before the summer as due to Rockness commitments I won't be able to broadcast this week. It was another BIG one though, apart from the mic issues at the start which did eventually sort themself out. With a gorgeous summery Blog Burner from Aeroplane and a re-visit to Shaun Fae Solar's set from Subcity's 15th Birthday at The Arches we definitely went out with a bang. Again, we'll be back in September with more mash-up goodness and a whole host of new features.

Have an AMAZING summer! x

back on the air...almost

Synth // 23.04.10 // Guest Mix from Matthew One More Tune: ear pleasing

Subcity Radio is finally back on air so if you've been missing out on your favourite shows over the last few weeks you can now re-connect and get lost in hours of interesting music and chat. The studio has been re-located to Southpark Avenue near Hillhead St and is apparently nestled in a snug/dingy wee basement so I'm looking forward to getting back on the air properly next week!

As for this week, I blatantly didn't get my act together in time so you'll have to put up with another dodgy podcast...but fear not the music is, as always exceptional. Remixes from Doorly, Afrojack and Mighty Mouse, originals from Foamo, Subscape & Redlight with a mighty fine Blog Burner from he Scissor Sisters. Matthew One More Tune provides this week's twenty minute mix of mash up madness and I'll also have your essential run down of all the hottest parties going on in Glasgow this weekend!

Synth @ the Brunswick Hotel // Fri 12th March // £5/4 (Before 10.30pm) // 9pm-2am

MGCK - THAT DIRTY LATINO - TARANTISM - SHAPES!- JOE CROGAN (Visuals)

In 2010 SYNTH is going on a great big disco journey. We've ditched any rules for an 'as and when' attitude. We want to throw parties wherever and whenever. That is why this particular disco journey is a bit different, we want to bring back the PARTY, whether it be in the basement of a hotel or the attic of a West End tenemant, all that matters is the music & the people.

No one likes organised fun....

So, starting in the illuminated sweatbox that is The Brunswick Hotel Basement we have:

MGCK (Mixkings): 'A mad talented young buck' with more sub bass then Barry White waxing lyrical on a South London dubplate. Expect a downright dangerous mix of UK funky, ribcage rattling dubstep & bassline bruising house.

THAT DIRTY LATINO: A comeback performance worth crackin' out the personal planner for. Barrientos has been flying the flag solo for a while now, but come March 12th both the boys are going to be laying down the flithiest fidget funkers this side of the nut house.

TARANTISM (Subcity): Another double act causing quite a stir on the Glasgow scene, Marco & Nathan will be providing the finest blend of deep house, disco & tech to get you moving. Check out their radio show on Subcity....your ears will thank you.

SHAPES!: Do I really want to write about myself in the third person?

last night on synth: new daft punk!! (possibly)

Synth // 29.01.10 // New Daft Punk!! (I think)

So this week has been somewhat of a frenzy on the blogosphere, firstly we had 'Fragile', a song supposedly written by Daft Punk and then we had 'Beginning Of The End', new music apparantly from Justice. Thankfully both were outed as fakes, the Justice track was decidedly shit.

Then, on Wednesday, out of nowhere came what is reportedly the real deal...new Daft Punk written for the score of Tron. Last night I aired this 12 minute long monster so give it a listen and let me know what you think! Daft Punk or not??

I also had new music from Groove Armada Ali Love & Louis La Roche as well as a run down of all the hottest parties going on in Glasgow and beyond this weekend, plus a ten minute mix of mash up madness!

I'm also DJ'ing alongside Late Of The Pier and PMcQ tonight at Pin Up Nights at The Flying Duck so if you're currently in a state of frenzied panic at the thought of having nothing to do this evening, now you know! There's some fantastic live bands playing from 9 so get down early and soak it up!

SYNTH returns tonight to Subcity Radio with a cascade of exciting new music to feed your ear chasms!

here we go again....

Synth // 29.11.09 // It got messy

Tonight is going to be messy. Having a show at 3am on a Sunday morning has it's advantages and disadvantages, on the one hand I get to continue the rave post-club, providing only the finest in after-party tunage, on the other I usually end up going out before which inevitably results in slurred words and nonsensical chat. And tonight is no exception, let's hope I can drag myself away from the Subcity Dark Party before 3am rolls by!

Presuming I do make it, tonight I have new music from Lindstrom, Yuksek and Glasgow's own Motorpsycho, a Blog Burner from Retro/Grade, a Classic Cut from Skream, a twenty minute mix of 'mid-tempo calmness', plus a run down of all the hottest parties going on in Glasgow & beyond next week...

Tonight: A Blog Burner from La Roux & Boy 8 Bit, Classic Cut from Commix, plus new music from The Count & Sinden, A Trak, Brookes Brothers & DJ Zinc with a twenty minute mix of Mash Up Madness to end the show!

There is also a distinct possibility I maybe somewhat inebriated while broadcasting tonight's show so I apologise in advance for any slurred words or potentially inaudible links!

While I'm at it, a quick reminder that Synth comes to the Flying Duck this Tuesday. Here be the details:
