Electroclash, coined by Larry Tee in 2001, is a musical genre that sprung to popularity in the early 2000s, but stemmed from the previous decade's antics of hedonism, sexual freedom and drug-fuelled ideals. It went on to become one of the most influential genres of recent history, spawning various forms of electro and synth-pop.
Popularised greatly by cult films like Party Monster, electroclash has continued to influence modern electronic producers, despite being a short-lived musical movement.
