Knit, Kin and Thinking of Sound

The Vile Arts Radio Hour // 1500-1700 04.02.11

phil gatt meets vile to preview the next session

"Ever since my producer Harry taught me how to press the record button, I've been roaming Glasgow for interviews," Gareth K Vile boasts. Indeed, his over-excitement at waving microphones in people's faces has led to performers frequently hiding whenever he appears at the Tron, Tramway or CCA. Fortunately, some of the artists aren't fast enough. Harry is currently musing over eighteen hours of interviews, which Gareth reckons will fit in the show "as long as I don't get distracted by some obscure critical point and deliver one of my ever popular lectures. Take the difference between performance and representation..."

This week's victims include Kirsten Innes, LJ and Iain from The Arches discussing Sound Thought, and Donna Rutherford. Vile is even promising some exclusive new tracks from an exciting local band...

As it turns out, Vile's tour around Scotland - he was spotted in Edinburgh giving his opinions on performance violence as part of the Manipulate festival - led to one of the worst quality recordings in Subcity history. Harry's look of despair was hardly assuaged even by the appearance of a preview copy of the Zoey Van Goey album.
