This week, we welcome our thirteenth guest mix selection - this time from Tokyo-based DJ, unrivalled bizzaro-music collector, hair-stylist and reissue label maverick, Tatsuhiko Sakamoto.

Tatsu is the owner of a very cool hair salon in Yoyogi-Hachiman, Tokyo called TANGRAM, founder of Tokyo’s Ideala crew, who organise regular ‘deep listening parties’ at Forestlimit in Hatagaya, and label co-head behind Conatala, one of the best new reissue labels, whose latest archival record, Fishy Tails, compiles tracks from The Dead Goldfish Ensemble.

This guest mix melts sources and samples into an unfathomable pile of rainbow candle wax. Extended thickets of electronic whispers devolve into creamy xylophone-like refrains - massaging synth updrafts free fall into dark ambient communal baths that offer entire universes to idly float through at varying lengths. The first hour is all pealing ripples and imitation bells, cascading hiss and meditative drift, plus a great deal of unstated, baleful fun bridging sounds and subcultures.

The marvellously psychedelic churn changes tempos in the second hour - hypnotic krautrock-inspired repetition, snaking and surging on a dime Jazz-chord skree, proggy synth-pomp and far East tonalities, ultimately hydroplaning into a thicket of bracing, exclamatory effects; think of it as primal lamentation therapy for the lockdown soul.
