i'm back!
today's episode, rather than diving into the poetry/dance music relationship, will use electronic music and words that include poetry but above all The Tape Journals of David Wojnarowicz, artist and AIDS activist who fell victim to its epidemic, to tackle the subject of death.
i made 90% of this show during the march lockdown when i was moved to the marrow by these diaries, witnessing from a 'safe' distance the deaths around me, and had no equipment to mix with.
now we're in lockdown 2.0 and a family friend whose whole life was devoted to music recently passed away, leaving us the following message:
'May all the music ring on
May music ring on
When all the stars and asteroids are gone
May music ring on'
and 'i spent my whole life trying to understand what this life was all about, and now i know and it's too much to explain, much much too much'.
this one goes out to him, to Wojnarowicz, the victims of COVID-19, the victims of AIDS, to anyone who’s alive and might not be feeling too much alive.
