Rollerstop Late Skate Residency

Every three months, Subcity Radio takes a trip to the legendary Rollerstop CiC; Glasgow’s one and only Roller Disco nestled in Kinning Park. On a Friday evening, the Subcity masses travel far and wide to witness two hours of free-wheeling, sober pleasure. This collaboration began in July 2023 when finally, the long awaited dream of hosting a Subcity Roller Disco became reality and everyone could f**cking relax.

Worries and woes are left at the door. Figures gliding around the rink in perfect synchronicity. Forward, backwards, left-foot, right-foot. We’ve seen it all and can’t wait to see more. Everyone is welcome here, even if you’ve never touched a skate in your life, the staff at Rollerstop are experts at teaching and will help you *if* you fall.

The nights would not be possible without the gorgeous array of Subcity contributors who volunteer to DJ in Rollerstop’s shiny shiny booth. We’ve heard the sounds of Observatory’s 80s new-wave synths, the irresistible grooves of Shika Bika’s Southwest Asian funk and disco, Trust Me, I’m A Doctor’s serotonin boosting percussions and lots more:
