End Serenading

End Serenading

Approximately 3700 miles from Glasgow, sometime in the mid 1980s, disaffected teenagers began to turn their disaffected punk into vehicles for their interpersonal grievances. 3 chord pummellings turned slower, stranger, cleaner, obsessed with dissonance until punk was lost sight of entirely. For about 10 years this was Midwest emo. Then everyone got bored, emo became a different word entirely and only in the 2010s did a broader array of suburbites reinvent our "Real" punk genre. This is a radio show about what happened and what is still happening today. Teenagers in their bedrooms playing two notes a semi-tone apart.

Midwest emo, Emocore, Screamo
