Speech/Act

This programme will explore speech-act theory through the lens of popular music, and vice versa - whether this be dissecting and contextualising specific lyrics, the effects lyrical pieces have had on popular culture, or the way in which specific actions are performed through pieces of music, the show will traverse many different genres, accessibly outlining elements of speech-act theory and demonstrating how it can help us, as listeners, understand and reconsider music and our responses to it.
