After Party - an evening at The Friday Club

Today I'm joined by the wonderful Ailsa who is taking us off to Bloomsbury, early 1900s for an evening at The Friday Club! The Friday Club was primarily a gathering of artists, intellectuals, writers and bohemians who would eventually be known as the Bloomsbury Group. These events gave them a chance to share work, thoughts, feelings and even kisses - it was a sexy vibe. Ails takes us on a gorgeous sonic imagining of a night spent at the Friday Club, with music that flirts with boundary, fragmentation, polyphony and narrative - all tenets of the Modernist movement that the group helped to shape. You can also expect band name ideas (Carpet Cleaner, anyone?) and rambly tangents, as per. Sorry the audio cuts a little early! xx
