The Disruption Nexus
Rapid, transformative change is most likely to happen when a crisis occurs in conjunction with disruptive movements, and visionary ideas. This is the theory of the 'Disruption Nexus'.
The show is a platform to critique power and inequality, honour history and to build new ideas around a more positive reimagining of our futures. In a musical context, samples often provide sonic links to the past or unique juxtapositions that fuel alternative stories and challenge mainstream ideas about originality and ownership, while often empowering marginalised voices. We'll use sample-based music as a focus, with regular guest inputs from artists and thinkers working in these spaces contributing mixes, interspersed with interviews/soundbites that fit the topic. We’ll be playing music across genres but focused on anything using, influenced by, or used as, sampling/samples. This can range from found sounds and ambient, to hip-hop and noise (to name just a few).
